Lynne has worked professionally as a pastel painter for many years in Taos, New Mexico.
Her work with watercolor media began during her Peace Corps years, 1975 - 1977.
Her images are bold and varied: views from windows, everyday objects: Mops in mango trees, purple plastic scrub brushes in window sills, interiors of family rooms, handmade stone walls, her son and sister in their realms. People, places and things which have personal meaning to her become subjects of her work. Her travels, adventures and studies have mainly been to tropical countries. A love of Spanish has taken her throughout Central America and Mexico. A love of the ocean - to beaches and Tobago, British West Indies. Her studies include Indiana University, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and workshops with Ray Vinella and Bill Gersh in Taos. "To me, art is a way to dispel lonely times, record important events, pursue unfinished business, and an excuse to travel." |
